As the Sawmill Production Supervisor, you will lead a team of hourly employees to ensure efficient operations, meet production goals, and maintain high standards in quality and recovery. You will coordinate workflows, optimize processes, and manage shift performance—all while staying within approved budgets.
In this role, you are also responsible for fostering a safe and productive work environment. This includes supervising safety practices, providing leadership and training, and ensuring full compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
You will be required to work both day and afternoon shifts.
Duties

Champion a safety-first culture, leading by example and ensuring compliance with all company policies, procedures, and WorkSafeBC regulations.

Proactively identify and address unsafe conditions to maintain a safe work environment.

Ensure targets for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement are met; take prompt corrective action when they are not.

Continuously identify and implement improvements to safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement—while meeting production targets.

Coach, mentor, and train team members to enhance skills and maximize performance.

Promote a culture of open, respectful, and collaborative communication across all departments and levels.

Actively engage employees to gather input and drive improvements in work processes and systems.

Ensure the timely and effective implementation of corporate and operational initiatives.
Qualifications
-
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in a sawmill and/or planer mill environment.
- Demonstrated strength in safety leadership, employee development, and team supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
- Strong understanding of performance management and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of optimization equipment and related processes.
- Proven business acumen with the ability to make informed, strategic decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to evolving internal and external business conditions.
- Highly effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
