Description

As an integral part of the Mackenzie Team, the Planer Production Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of hourly employees to ensure efficient operations, meet production goals, and maintain high standards in quality and recovery. You’ll coordinate workflows, optimize processes, and manage shift performance while staying within approved budgets. The Planer Production Supervisor is responsible for the safety, organization, training and leadership of all employees while ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company policies. The Planer Supervisor reviews service request to ensure efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, support, and direction to direct reports as well as the implementation and management of the divisional safety program including incident investigation and reporting
  • Provide leadership and support in implementing corrective measures to overcome equipment problems
  • Receive calls for troubleshooting on building mechanical systems
  • Inspects facilities for deficiencies and prepares reports and work orders
  • Provide leadership and support in ensuring cost targets are met regarding budget
  • File Management -Time and Attendance, W.O. Safety Tracking System, Attend production and safety meetings, maintain documentation for operations, safety, and personnel, participate in discipline actions and employee development, etc. and any other programs used by the Company.
  • Administer Company, Government, & other regulated bodies, policies and practices including the Collective Agreement identifying actions required to achieve compliance

Provide leadership and support in achievement of the Corporate and Divisional goals and objectives

Education & Certificates:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Post- secondary education preferred)
  • Grading Ticket

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding or Planer Mill Operations

Skills:

  • Proven ability in safety management, leadership and development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and team building skills
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of optimization equipment and processes
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing internal/external business conditions

An effective communicator, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial supervisory experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

Knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance

Duties
