Reporting to the Harvesting Superintendent, as a Harvesting Supervisor, you will supervise all aspects of timber operations to ensure the smooth delivery of logs and fiber to our sawmill.
To succeed in this role, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about forestry and ready to lead a team to success.
Duties
- Safety Leadership: Manage employee and contractor safety, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and provide ongoing training and coaching to your team.
- Operational Excellence: Plan and execute annual road, harvest, and post-harvest programs, overseeing remote camps, and water log-transport operations.
- Cost & Quality Optimization: Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance log value while meeting mill requirements and targets.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, local government, communities, and other industry partners.
- Team Development: Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team, supporting their professional growth and fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Participate in the development of annual budgets and rolling monthly outlook projections to ensure cost-effective operations.
Qualifications
- University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry (or related field), RPF, RFT, or eligible to enroll with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia.
- At least 2 years of forestry experience in areas such as cruising, planning, harvesting, and silviculture.
- A strong work ethic and love of the outdoors—this is a role where you’ll be working on the ground and in the forest.
- Leadership experience is preferred, but we’re also open to investing in and developing the right candidate.
- Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with BC forestry regulations and policies.
- Computer skills and an aptitude for forestry-based technologies.
