The Opportunity
We are seeking a Corporate Services Specialist – Payroll & Benefits to join our Prince George office. Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, this role plays a critical support function within Payroll, Human Resources, and Corporate Services.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys hands-on ownership of payroll, benefits administration, and corporate reporting, and who thrives in a collaborative, service-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Administer salaried payroll, quarterly director fees, and related personnel transactions in compliance with corporate policy and statutory requirements
- Set up, manage, and administer employee benefits, including taxable benefits
- Process deductions, bereavement leave, banked time, holiday pay, and Record of Employment (ROE)
- Coordinate and administer short-term disability, long-term disability, WCB, and related claims
- Act as primary point of contact with benefit carriers, pension providers, CRA, and WCB
- Complete year-end reporting including T4s and pension documentation
Compensation, Reporting & Finance Support
- Prepare salary compensation and benefits data, analysis, and reporting
- Complete salary journal entries and assist with monthly payroll integration into the accounting system
- Perform account reconciliations, remittances, and statutory reporting
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual HR and payroll metrics to HR leadership, Finance, and Operations
- Support management compensation reporting to the CFO
HR & Corporate Services Support
- Maintain accurate employee records (HR, medical, performance, etc.)
- Prepare offer letters, severance documentation, and other employee-related correspondence
- Coordinate new salaried employee onboarding and employment terminations
- Maintain organizational charts and internal employee directories
- Support month-end HR and Safety reporting requirements
- Serve as liaison with multiple Conifex locations regarding salaried employee transactions
Additional Administrative Responsibilities
- Fleet administration including licensing, registrations, leasing coordination, fuel cards, and coding
- Petty cash administration and banking deposits
- Support share transaction record-keeping
- Assist with quarterly safety reporting and internal audits as required
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation required
- CPA designation considered an asset
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in payroll, compensation, benefits, and HR administration
- Minimum 1 year of accounting experience
- Minimum 3 years of recent office-based experience
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles
- Customer-focused, professional, and collaborative communication style
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
