Description
The Heavy-Duty Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty equipment, including loaders, forklifts, and other machinery used in our sawmill operations. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy-duty equipment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Conduct diagnostics using computerized tools and manual inspections.
- Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff and operations personnel to prioritize repairs.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Order and manage spare parts inventory for heavy equipment.
- Provide emergency repair services as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Certification or equivalent qualification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, preferably in a sawmill or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Experience using diagnostic software and tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
