The Sawmill Production Supervisor role involves managing hourly employees, coordinating workflow and optimizing processes to meet production targets.
You are responsible for quality, recovery, and production targets while working within approved budgets. You are responsible for the safety, leadership, organization, and training of all employees on your shift, while ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
Duties
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring your team follows all policies, procedures and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Address unsafe conditions as required.
- Ensure safety, quality, cost delivery and employee engagement targets are met and timely action is taken when targets are not met.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and employee engagement as well as opportunities to reduce cost, while safely meeting production targets.
- Coach, train, and support team members to maximize performance.
- Build/Encourage a culture of open respectful communication with employees in all departments and at all levels.
- Engage all employees to provide valuable input into work processes and systems.
- Ensure the timely implementation of Corporate and Operational initiative.
Qualifications
- 5+ Years Sawmill / Planer Mill Supervision
- Proven ability in safety management, leadership and development skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and team building skills.
- Solid knowledge of performance management and continuous improvement processes.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of optimization equipment and process.
- Strong business acumen.
- Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing internal/external business conditions.
- An effective communicator, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
