Conifex’s business is the harvesting of timber and the manufacture and sale of lumber, primarily for North American and Asian markets. Our sawmills process high-quality SPF logs into higher-grade and commodity-grade lumber, wood chips that are sold externally and used for pulp production, and other residual products for sale to wood pellet manufacturers, finger joint lumber plants, biomass power plants

We believe that efficient utilization of our timber resources is essential. Our timberland operations seek to supply our sawmills with low-cost fibre, and enable efficient manufacture of lumber that meets customer needs, and optimizes all opportunities to generate the widest possible profit margins.

Conifex commenced manufacturing operations at our Fort St James sawmill in 2008, with 310 million board feet of annual lumber capacity.

Mackenzie sawmill

Conifex commenced operations in Mackenzie at Site II in 2010, with 215 million board feet of annual lumber capacity.

In 2015, Conifex commissioned a 36 MW biomass power plant in Mackenzie that utilizes 172,000 oven dried tonnes of sawmill and forest residuals per year to produce clean electricity for 20,000 BC homes.
